Disneyland Trivia Done Old School
After learning from Disnology that the music in the Magic Kingdom is silent in only one place, I decided to learn where they learned it.
Google, for once, didn't help. Maybe that particular bit of trivia is exclusive to Disnology. But while searching I found Doug's Disneyland, an interesting site full of Disneyland trivia. How refreshing that the site owner, Doug Rhoades, has such confidence in his material that he didn't feel it necessary to design a pretty site for it. (Heck, he even has an animated envelope near his Contact link!)
As someone severely challenged by graphic design, I dig that!
Doug's site hasn't been updated since 2006 but the trivia is still valid and the site is still getting nearly 8000 visits per month - which is more than most current Disney sites!
Doug has trivia for each land. Navigation is dead simple courtesy of Doug's old school frameset, and once you've clicked onto a land you'll find all the trivia for that land dumped on a single page, nothing but text and a few stock images. Just how I like it.
Much of the trivia you've probably read elsewhere, but Doug has an engaging, exuberant style, and he's not afraid to express his opinions, either.
My sole problem about Doug's Disneyland is that it hasn't been updated since 2006. Doesn't Doug know that they're doing marvelous things with animated envelopes these days?
