Celebrity Disney

About the Column

Sure, sure, everyone wants to see Mickey, or maybe Cinderella, but what about the freshly, often fleetingly famous (and sometimes the genuinely famous) who flock to the Disney Parks in search of pixie dust and photo ops? Disney makes a big deal out of these appearances - but only when the celebrities are Disney-worthy. Here on Celebrity Disney, we spotlight all the stars, especially the infamous ones, with a generous helping of the snarkiest comments on earth.

Brady and Matsui

After last week's bumper crop of Disney celebrity sightings, which included ancient Hugh Hefner puttering after two blondes in a scooter, this week we have to settle for two sports figures, one who does speak English, the other who does not.

I'm not a sports fan. I'd never heard of either of the two sports 'superstars' who were recently sighted at Disneyland. But that doesn't mean we'll slight them here...

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady took his son and niece to Disneyland, where they posed for a shot with Rapunzel and Flynn Rider while celebrating the niece's fifth birthday.

As someone who often takes his kids solo to Disney World, it's nice to see another dad doing the same thing.

Hideki Matsui with Mickey [PIC]

In a planned media event, Angels baseball player Hideki Matsui and his entourage of 40 Japanese journalists visited Disneyland on Tuesday. Matsui posed for a picture with 'Baseball Mickey' and responded to a few questions in Japanese.

Disney cordoned off the plaza in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle for Matsui's appearance, which paying guests always love, and then escorted Matsui to It's a Small World, where they again cordoned off the area.

According to Disney spokeswoman Norma Perez, Matsui chose to ride It's a Small World because he was afraid of getting motion sickness before the 'big game', and he figured Small World wouldn't be too much of a shock to his system.

Somewhere, the cigar-chomping, tobacco-spitting, whiskey-guzzling baseball stars of yesteryear are making some very inappropriate remarks...

Matsui is a huge star in Japan, and his Disneyland trip was headline news over there.

Until next week, keep your feet on Main Street and keep reaching for the Disney stars.
