Tips from the Disney Diva
My Favorite Things, Episode 03: Fast Pass Pouches
by Kristin T. Scroggin
Tips from the Disney Diva is a regular column written for the Disney Dispatch by the Diva herself, Kristin T. Scroggin. Today, the Diva reveals one of her 'favorite things': Fast Pass Pouches.
Like everyone else, you may be slightly worried about losing your precious (and expensive) park tickets - especially if you don't have 'Keys to the World' (a room key and park ticket in one) and wouldn't be able to prove you even had tickets.
You probably also have money, credit cards, ID cards, and medical cards with you at Disney, not to mention a cell phone (seriously, how did people get around Disney before cell phones existed?).
But park tickets are the most vulnerable to loss or theft because you have to produce them when you enter the park and whenever you use a Fast Pass Machine.

Lanyard Pouches
You'll see plenty of lanyards at Disney World, usually around the necks of pin collectors. My husband and I use ours to hold a clear plastic pouch in which we carry our tickets, money, and other immediate valuables. The pouches have a pocket on the back for a cell phone and we can make calls or text right through the protective plastic.
You can buy lanyards at virtually any shop in Disney World. Lanyards with plastic pouches are a bit harder to find. If you want to get yours before you leave for Disney, YourWDWStore has a nice selection.
But I'm not a fan of plastic pouches for two reasons. First, when I'm moving things around, my cash sometimes ends up on the outside, or an ID or credit card gets turned around so that the information on it is visible to others through the clear plastic. Second, the pouches 'seal' like ZipLoc bags. They don't have a zipper - and that just doesn't feel secure to me.
Fabric Pouches
My husband and I prefer fabric pouches. Though technically not waterproof, we've taken them on 'wet' rides like Splash Mountain and so far nothing in them has ever gotten wet. They're not easy to find, but you can still get them at an eBay store called Disney Smiles. Each costs $10.95 plus shipping and multiple designs are available.
Shoulder Bags
For those of you that have more to carry (i.e., MOMS) but don't feel like hauling around a backpack every day, there's another option (which I just discovered myself in October): a three-pouch shoulder bag. I use it myself because a lanyard sometimes hurts my neck when it's weighted down with cards and my heavy Droid. I found my shoulder bag in a Disney resort gift shop. So far, I haven't been able to find them on the Web, though they may be out there.
The Passholder Pouch
One other thing some people like is called the 'Passholder Pouch'. It's a bit bigger than the lanyard pouch and can be ordered for $8.95 plus shipping from Passporter.
Not having to hunt for fast passes over and over and keeping tickets safe is what makes Fast Pass Pouches #3 of My Favorite Things!

She, her husband ("G"), and their two children (8 and 4) are WDW annual pass-holders and border-line Disney addicts. She shamelessly begs to stow away in her friends' suitcases when they travel to WDW and takes great pleasure in teaching other people (especially parents) how to make the MOST of their Disney World vacations. She is really excited to be sharing what she and her hubby have learned with all of the DisneyDispatch fans!
