Preview: Epcot Explorer

Of all the Disney parks, Epcot is where you're most likely to learn something. You could, possibly, write an entire encyclopedia about Epcot. Sound crazy? Not to R.A. Pedersen, author of a new encyclopedia about... Epcot!

First of all, I have to type this word: Epcyclopedia.

It's one of those words that I wish I'd thought of first. But those honors go to R.A. Pedersen, who coined 'Epcyclopedia' as the name of the new website he built for the new book he wrote called The Epcot Explorer's Encyclopedia.

The Epcot Explorer, for short, is the most comprehensive guide to Epcot available today - and likely tomorrow, too. At nearly 300 pages, it will satisfy even the rabid Epcot aficionado, and its value as a reference to Disney writers and bloggers is unsurpassed.

The author, R.A. Pedersen, scoured Disney books, Disney blogs, and mainstream sources like The Orlando Sentinel and The New York Times to compile detailed, chronological accounts of every Epcot ride, attraction and pavilion, past and present. Over two-thirds of the book is devoted to Future World, the rest to the World Showcase.

The book has no pictures or illustrations. It has text, and lots of it. Smart choice, since the likely readership is hard-core Disney enthusiasts who either have already seen all there is to see about Epcot or who can easily find pictures themselves on-line.

The Epcot Explorer fulfills well its simple function as a comprehensive guide to Epcot.

If you need know no more, you can buy the book through Amazon for $19.95 (print) or $9.99 (Kindle). For those on the fence, Jeff Heimbuch will have a full review next week.
