From the Classroom, Part 5

David Zanolla has returned with his students from their learning trip to Disney World, and now the class must end: no more lessons or lectures from David, but instead projects from each of his students, excerpts of which he requires them to publish here on Disney Dispatch!

David Zanolla teaches an advanced honors course at Western Illinois University called Communication Around the "World". The 'World', of course, is Disney World, and in addition to standard lectures and projects, the course includes a guided trip to Disney World in March.

You can't come on the trip - sorry! - but you can take a virtual seat in David's class by attending his weekly series, College in the Kingdom, exclusively on Disney Dispatch.

Here's David with his fond farewell...

As we were watching the 'Kiss Goodnight' at the Magic Kingdom on the last night of our trip, I realized I would never see the 'World' like this again.

I was once more blessed with an AMAZING group of students whose hunger for knowledge about communication at Walt Disney World impressed me every day. We had some wonderful experiences during our eight days on property. I always feel as if I need/want more time at Disney World, but this was different.

I realized (and yes, there were some tears, I mean, mist in my eyes) that for the most part, my job with the students had come to an end. I'll still visit with each of them as they complete their final projects, but our travel to WDW was the culmination of eight intensive weeks of learning.

Now, the baton has been passed to my class.

In the upcoming weeks, you'll be hearing from them regarding what they learned - which hopefully was more than the need to get a FastPass for Toy Story Mania.

Thanks for following me on this journey!

As am alumni of WIU, I can only say I wished this class was offered when I was there. As a parent of a current student, I am so happy that my daughter was able to partake in this fantastic learning experience. Keep up the great work!
