Wally in a tight spot

About the Column

Wally, a distant relative of popular Disney blogger Bruce G, was detained abroad when the scoundrels shuttered the Adventurers Club on Pleasure Island. Returning several years later, Wally found his old friends scattered and his old haunts refurbished. Ever the intrepid soul, Wally chose to stay, having nowhere else to go. In characteristic high spirits, Wally retrieved his trusty brown fedora from a locker at the Orlando bus station and commenced his wanderings through Disney World. He graciously takes time (as if we could stop him) to regale us weekly with the sights and sounds of his unique adventures.

Wandering The World With Wally - Episode 37

In this episode, Wally is called away from Disney World on an important and extremely mysterious matter.

KUNGALOOSH! My friend, I hate to be doing this, but I cannot enjoy the parks with you today, I have been summoned by my Brethren of S.E.A. that I am needed and I will be taking leave of the Walt Disney World Resort in the morning. What’s that? No, I don’t know for how long. I am hoping it is nothing too catastrophic, but who knows. The last time I was summoned by S.E.A., it was because Harrison Hightower III disappeared.

What’s that? What is S.E.A.? I’m sorry I thought you knew about this group. That’s right, you wouldn’t. It is a secret society. But you and I are friends, and I know I can trust you. But you’ll have to be a stand up Adventurer and keep it under your hat. You know what, before I let you in on that secret; so I know I can trust you, I think you should repeat the Adventurers’ Club Creed after me. Are you ready my friend? Just as Merriweather Adam Pleasure said it in 1927:

We climb the highest mountains,
just to get a better view.
We plumb the deepest oceans,
cause we're daring through and through.
We cross the scorching deserts,
martini in our hands.
We ski the polar ice caps,
in tuxedo looking grand.
We are reckless, brave, and loyal,
and valiant to the end.
If you come in here a stranger,
you will exit as a friend.

Very well then, the S.E.A. as we are known is The Society of Explorers and Adventurers.  Most people don't know about this hidden Society that lives and operates inside the ports of Tokyo DisneySEA. This secret organization deals in mysterious and dangerous things. What is that? How long has it been around? Centuries. Most of the time, underground and in the shadows. The Adventurers’ Club was a convenient meeting place for many members of the S.E.A., when it was still on Pleasure Island.
I am curious as to why I am being called upon by the group. I was given a communiqué a few weeks ago telling me that they think they have found Mystic Manor, home to Lord Henry Mystic; one of the members of the Society of Explorers and Adventurers from the turn of the 20th century. Lord Mystic’s Exotic collections are said to hold many magical and fascinating things. Maybe they need someone with my skills and background to help them understand what they have found or maybe they need help securing his mansion? Either way, I will find out soon enough. As I said I am leaving Disney World in the morning and heading for the Far East.

If I have time, I will send correspondence keeping you apprised of my adventure, but they will be short notes and I’m not sure when will arrive. Take care my friend and remember, "Some days you eat the bear, some days the bear eats you, but always dress for the hunt!" Until we meet again, KUNGALOOSH! My friend and keep your eyes open for adventure!
