About the Column

Finding perfect Disney pictures isn't easy. The obvious places to look, such as Flickr, are awash in pictures posted by folks returning from a Disney trip. With patience, it's possible to find stunning shots, not always 'photographically flawless', but stunning for how the shooter has captured a slice of Disney, big or small, and captured it in such a way that you're inspired to do likewise the next time you're in a Disney park. Enjoy these shots of park perfection!

Perfect Port Orleans Carriage

Every Disney picture tells a Disney story, and today we continue with our set of perfect park pics from Dan Sisneros, who yelled "Giddyup!" and waved his Mickey-eared cowboy hat above his head as he boarded the Port Orleans carriage. (Or not.)

Port Orleans is one of my favorite Disney resorts. I enjoy the convenience of the boat to Downtown Disney, and I enjoy the theming, especially at Riverside.

What's especially nice about Port Orleans Riverside, in particular on cool, breezy nights, is taking a horse-drawn carriage ride on the banks of the Sassagoula River, just you and a special someone (or someones if the kids or maybe the in-laws are along), an informative driver, and of course, the horse.

The ride costs $45, no matter how many people pile into the carriage. You can reserve a time in advance, and probably should, though in my experience it's not difficult to book passage on a walk-up basis.

The ride itself lasts about half an hour. The first ride departs at 6:00 PM, the last at 9:30 PM, and...

Egad! What's that smell?

It's the horse. Of course.

Before the driver dumps you back off at the 'dock' near Boatwright's Dining Hall, the horse sometimes needs to take a dump or two of its own...

And with that pleasant thought:

The images in Park Perfect this week are courtesy Dan Sisneros. Thanks, Dan for the great shots! Tomorrow, a new arc of perfect pics, from a new photographer, begins.
