About the Column

Finding perfect Disney pictures isn't easy. The obvious places to look, such as Flickr, are awash in pictures posted by folks returning from a Disney trip. With patience, it's possible to find stunning shots, not always 'photographically flawless', but stunning for how the shooter has captured a slice of Disney, big or small, and captured it in such a way that you're inspired to do likewise the next time you're in a Disney park. Enjoy these shots of park perfection!

Perfect Animal Kingdom Signage

Every Disney picture tells a Disney story, and today we continue with our set of perfect park pics from Dan Sisneros, who starts us off with a deceptively simple shot - signage from the Animal Kingdom - but on the sign there lurks a special beast.

You've seen them dozens of times: the five animals on Animal Kingdom signage.

If we were playing Disney Trivial Pursuit, I'd ask you to name those five animals.

(No peeking at the pic!)

Okay, I'll tell you: lion, elephant, dragon, triceratops, antelope.

The lion, the elephant, and the antelope are easily found in Africa or Asia, or both. And the triceratops, or at least a fiberglass replica, is easily found in DinoLand, U.S.A.

But what about that dragon?

Well, it woulda, shoulda, been part of the Beastly Kingdom, a potentially exciting part of the Animal Kingdom that would have featured legendary beasts had Disney not run out of money before they were able to build it.

Camp Minnie-Mickey, the least exciting part of the Animal Kingdom, stands on the proposed site of the Beastly Kingdom.

The Disney Geek in the back row speaks up: "there is a legendary beast in the Animal Kingdom!" And yes, he's right. The Yeti in Expedition Everest is a legendary beast.

Let's just look at the perfect pic, okay:
