Park Perfect

About the Column

Finding perfect Disney pictures isn't easy. The obvious places to look, such as Flickr, are awash in pictures posted by folks returning from a Disney trip. With patience, it's possible to find stunning shots, not always 'photographically flawless', but stunning for how the shooter has captured a slice of Disney, big or small, and captured it in such a way that you're inspired to do likewise the next time you're in a Disney park. Enjoy these shots of park perfection!

Perfect Mayor of Main Street

Every Disney picture tells a Disney story, and today we continue with our set of perfect park pics from Jeff Christiansen, who should defnitely count his fingers if he shook hands with the shady subject of his shot, Mayor Weaver of Main Street.

Long-time readers of the Disney Dispatch know that I have a serious problem with Mayor Weaver of Main Street, U.S.A., mostly because I intend to run for that office myself one day on a reform ticket.

I'm convinced that Mayor Weaver is venal, corrupt - in short, a scoundrel, aided and abetted by his henchman, Fire Chief Smokey Miller, who in today's picture you can see on the sidewalk playing an instrument (badly, I'm sure) with some of his fire hall cronies. Miller's the tubby one in the orange shirt.

The Mayor looks quite pleased with himself. He has likely just taken the last quarter from the girl standing behind him. She thinks it's part of the show. Honey, you're not getting that quarter back...

But I'll save my speeches for the campaign.

If you do run into Mayor Weaver on Main Street, U.S.A., he'll be happy to pose with you for a picture so that he can serenade you his campaign slogan: "When you pull the lever, vote for Weaver!"

(My slogan needs a bit of work: "If you are insane, vote for McLain!")

Many guests are surprised that Main Street has its share of characters - or more accurately, citizens. In addition to Mayor Weaver and Fire Chief Miller, you may run into Scoop Sanderson (reporter for the Main Street Gazette), Bea Starr, the Dapper Dans, and a few others.

As for Weaver... enjoy it while you can, buddy:
