About the Column

Finding perfect Disney pictures isn't easy. The obvious places to look, such as Flickr, are awash in pictures posted by folks returning from a Disney trip. With patience, it's possible to find stunning shots, not always 'photographically flawless', but stunning for how the shooter has captured a slice of Disney, big or small, and captured it in such a way that you're inspired to do likewise the next time you're in a Disney park. Enjoy these shots of park perfection!

Perfect Wicked Stepmother

This week's windfall of perfect pics from Disney World comes courtesy of Jeff Christiansen. Yesterday, we enjoyed a ride on the 'horses', but today, unfortunately, we must pay our dues and endure the sight of Cinderella's wicked stepmother.

Cinderella's wicked stepmother and two stepsisters are most often seen during the dinner buffet at 1900 Park Fare in the Grand Floridian, but sometimes they 'grace' the parks, too.

The wicked stepmother is Lady Tremayne, who didn't become wicked until her husband, Cinderella's father, died. Until then, she was a good stepmother. But fairy tales are only supposed to have happy endings - getting there is usually a bitch, so to speak.

(Does anyone besides myself look at today's picture and ask whether Disney gave the role of the wicked stepmother to a male Cast Member?)

Beside Lady Tremayne sit her two lovely daughters. In turquoise we have Drizella, her of the big blue bow, a cruel girl with a face to match. Her scowl would peel the skin off your smoked turkey leg. In magenta we have Anastasia, a much prettier girl, who manages to mend her ways after falling in love with a banker, or perhaps with his money.

All in all, it's a trio only a divorce attorney could love.

In this shot, suitable for framing in the rec room at a women's prison, the trio sit scowling on a bench:
