About the Column

Finding perfect Disney pictures isn't easy. The obvious places to look, such as Flickr, are awash in pictures posted by folks returning from a Disney trip. With patience, it's possible to find stunning shots, not always 'photographically flawless', but stunning for how the shooter has captured a slice of Disney, big or small, and captured it in such a way that you're inspired to do likewise the next time you're in a Disney park. Enjoy these shots of park perfection!

Perfect Tonga Toast

This week's windfall of perfect pics from Disney World comes courtesy of Jeff Christiansen. We'll start with breakfast, not just any breakfast, but a breakfast of Tonga Toast from the Kona Cafe in Disney's Polynesian Resort.

Mr. Food. Remember him?

His real name is Art Ginsburg, and his fame derives mostly from 90 second TV spots that for years he has filmed and then syndicated to local news stations.

At the end of each spot, he delivers his catch phrase:

"OOH IT'S SO GOOD!!"

If Mr. Food is reading, I know what he's saying right now: "OOH, IT LOOKS SO GOOD!!".

Doesn't it, though?

Today's perfect park pic is of... Tonga Toast!

The premise is simple: tear out a pocket in a thick slice of sourdough bread and stuff half a banana into it, then deep fry and cover with sugar and cinnamon.

The result is delicious!

Tonga Toast is served in the Kona Cafe at Disney's Polynesian Resort. It's one of the most iconic Disney foods, right up there with Dole Whip and smoked turkey legs. You can also get Tonga Toast - for less money - at Captain Cook's Snack Company, the 'food court' at the Polynesian. You'll find the Cap'n tucked in a corner one level down from the Kona Cafe.
