It Came from Disney!

About the Column

If Disney piled all its themed merchandise in one place, it would likely reach to infinity - and beyond. You see it everywhere: at the parks, online, in your neighbor's house. And you're tempted, sorely tempted, to make it yours: not always because you need it but because it came from Disney. For many people, that means irresistible. But fight the urge, just for a moment, until you've read what Jessica Clawson thinks about that irresistible piece of Disneyana. Chances are, she has already succumbed to the urge - and now, temporarily recovered, wants to tell you whether it was worth it.

Mickey Baseball Hats

In a confession sure to shock, Jessica Clawson admits to having interests unrelated to Disney. Like sports. But when it came time to buy a baseball hat for her cousin, Jessica could not resist finding a way to bring Disney back into it. There's no escape.

You may be surprised to know that I do love other things besides Disney.

Back

Back off, rookies: this hat belongs to Ryan

I also like music and cooking and sports, especially my Philadelphia teams! Which is why, when I went out with my little cousin last week, I got him this awesome Philadelphia Phillies hat!

(What? Just because I said I like other stuff doesn't mean that I can't find a way to associate it with Disney!)

This hat is a fitted cap for a child and features, at least on my version, the Philadelphia logo with Mickey Mouse next to it holding a ball and bat and wearing an approximation of the team uniform.

The cap is very well made (so are the adult caps!) and it sports the official logos for MLB and Disney on the inside.

We bought this hat in a Lids store, where we were also able to get my cousin's name stitched on the back. I have seen hats like these in other stores (for example, Team Disney in Downtown Disney), and I have also seen them online at NewEraCap.

Of course, you can get the hat for other teams, not just the Phillies, on the NewEraCap website. (I don't know why you would to do that, but it's an option.) I've seen kid's hats for the Yankees, Mets, Dodgers, Braves, and Red Sox. You can also buy the hat in women's sizes and styles, but surprisingly there were none in stock for men.

Can't find the hat for your team? Try Googling its name along with Mickey Baseball Hat and see whether Google spits back a merchant, or at least a current eBay auction.

There are great advantages to putting one of these hats on your children's heads. Not only will you brainwash them into loving Disney, but you might also turn them into fans of your favorite team!
