About the Column
Back in the old days, it was actually possible to visit every site on the Internet about Disney. Nowadays, it's not even possible to count all the sites on the Internet about Disney. I visit quite a few of them compiling the Hullabaloo, and often I find gems - digitally buried treasure - maintained by folks who love Disney so much it doesn't matter that the traffic to their sites may be a trickle. In Daily DIZcovery, I'll pick a different dynamite Disney site every day, typically one you've never heard about, and hopefully turn their trickle into a torrent.

Magic Kingdom Utilidors
A Perfect Page from Disney-o-Rama
A Daily DIZcovery doesn't always have to be a site.
Sometimes, it can be a page, a 'perfect' page, about a Disney topic.
Today, we have our first perfect page: it's all about the Magic Kingdom Utilidors.
Back in June 2009, David Wallace of Disney-O-Rama wrote the definitive article about the Utilidors, complete with a map so big it'll put your eye out and a nifty though short video.
As most Disney trivia buffs know, the Utilidors aren't really underground. They're the 'main floor' of Disney World, built on ground level, with the park itself built on top of them.
Walt didn't want Cast Members from one land to be seen wandering in other lands. It wouldn't do, in his mind, for guests to see a Jungle Cruise skipper strolling through Fantasyland en route to Space Mountain, even if the skipper had a perfectly good reason for going there.
To solve the problem, Utilidors (utility corridors) were built 'beneath' the park and Cast Members used them to get from one place to another, sight unseen, and to effect costume changes, bathroom breaks, even haircuts (at Kingdom Kutters!).
To learn more, and to get a look at the juicy map, check out David's article.
